DESCRIPTION:
This is the real deal. This is the US WWII M43 Field Cap and is dated JUNE 3, 1944.The cap bears the soldier's name and serial number which is heavily ink marked on a painted white area on the inside of the cap under the left side ear flap portion of the neck hood. "GEORGE E HONEMANN 55685229". In addition the last four of the serial number preceded by H is rubber stamped in ink on the earflap itself.. "H. The sewn on white quartermaster tag is located on the inside left rear and a description and use instruction tag is sewn to the inside right rear. All lettering on the tags is very strong and easily readable. The cap is heavy OD Green cotton duck material and has a very heavy visor. The earflap/neck protector hood folds up inside the cap and has what appears to be a fine wool liner. Each side of the cap has two grommet vent holes. An excellent identified soldier used example of this WWII field cap.
