    Description

Let me preface this auction by saying I don't know my a** from a hole in the ground when it comes to militaria.  That being said, I do have a pretty nifty m1938 Carcano folding bayonet in a separate auction.  this was the sheath or scabbard that the m1938 was in.  I don't believe it was the correct scabbard so I split them and am selling separately.  Note that this scabbard has a finial.  On back side of finial, there is a small stamp with some nearly illegible letters/numbers, but I think one of the keys to identifying this scabbard lies in the fact that this stamp is there.  I can't make it out, but it looks like "WaA883" but part of it is certainly wrong.  I am fairly confident about "W" being first letter.  At the top front of the frog, there is serial number 5629.  On back of leather there are some illegible words stamped.  The first word I believe ends in a "Z" and "FROHME" appears to be part of it.    Also next line says, "__RODE1938".  The metal part of sheath measures 10 5/8" top to bottom and the leather portion measures 9 9/16" roughly top to bottom.  That is the best I can do, any help to identify it would really be appreciated and if I can answer any questions, feel free to ask!
