Description
WWII German Mauser M1884/98 Bayonet with Scabbard. Ricasso is marked "4388" over "d" on one side and on the reverse is "S/172" which stands for Carl Eickhorn, the spine has a "37" for 1937. The wood grips are solid with typical scratches/nicks/chips. The blade is straight, has not been sharpened, a couple minor nicks, the finish looks nice on both sides except for some light scabbard in/out scratch marks towards the tip and a few small minor spots of surface rust. The pommel has an illegible Waffenamt mark due to the rust on that side. Lock button is frozen. The scabbard has matching numbers to the bayonet "4388" on one side and on the backside is "S/172" over "1937". The scabbard is solid with no dents,
the ball finial has an illegible Waffenamt mark, has a smudge of white paint on the backside, has some light surface rust with pitting on the last 2" by the tip and on the top 2" by the throat including on the frog stud
. Length of the blade measures 9 7/8" (1" wide x 3/16" thick spine), length of the bayonet is 15 1/8", and overall in the scabbard it is 15 15/16".
