    Description

    Vintage Douglas Aircraft DC-9 Desktop Display Wood plaque Metal model Flight Miniature. Nice wood base with felting and a a metal tag on top stating “Douglas DC-9”. The base is 5” x 7”. The miniature DC-9 plane is approximately 5 inch replica and appears to be designed with pewter. There is a small scuff near the rear fuselage- see pics. Douglas Aircraft produced these planes in Long Beach beginning around 1965 and ended about 1982. It was a modern 65 passenger jet plane powered with Pratt & Whitney engines. Douglas soon merged with McDonnell aircraft and eventually Boeing.
    The plaque is likely early 1960s- 67 before the mergers. This could have been a design team or sales team memento/ award. The plane was popular US built plane primarily for intercity domestic flight and adapted for use by companies such as Delta, Eastern, Northwest Airlines.
