Skytrader 800 STOL Utility Aircraft Promotional Brochure. This 4-panel promotional brochure was published in the mid-1980s by Skytrader Aircraft Corporation headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, U.S.A.. Dominion Aircraft Company designed and constructed one Skytrader 800 prototype aircraft in the mid 1970s. Despite a flurry of initial interest, the bank financing the development of this aircraft collapsed and so to did Dominion Aircraft Company. The design and manufacturing rights to this aircraft then went through a number of different companies until finally purchased by Skytrader Aircraft Corporation in 1984. This company proposed the further development of the Skytrader 800 into a longer version capable of hauling both cargo and passengers. They also envisioned a dedicated version that could be used by the U.S. military to haul small numbers of soldiers. It was proposed that a version named the Evader could carry 26 soldiers while a smaller version, the Scout, could carry 12 to 15 troups. While a reconnaissance aircraft for border patrol duties was also proposed, nothing became of it and the Skytrader Aircraft Corporation eventually declared bankruptcy and was liquidated in August 1989.
This promotional brochure is interesting in that only one aircraft was ever produced. The brief narrative highlights the following aircraft features: 1) Comfortable accomodations for up to 18 passengers; 2) Ability to quickly change the cabin configuration to a 580 cubic foot cargo aircraft; 3) Rear ramp door for easy loading; 4) Unmatched range versus payload capabilities; 5) Structural integrity for rugged off-runway operations and 6) A simple straight-forward design. In addition to the narrative, this promotional brochure includes the following: 1) 1 black & white aircraft photograph; 2) 1 black & white three-view aircraft illustration; 3) 2 different black & white cabin layout illustrations and 4) 1 Performance and specifications table.
The overall grade of this promotional brochure is in Like-New condition with a cover that has minor shelf-wear. The interior 2-panels are clean and grade in Like-New condition. This promotional brochure has a clean cover and no detracting markings.
