    Product Description:
This offering is for a new-old-stock Shimano Sante front hub (Model HB-5000). This is a very good quality, late 80's front hub that is polished to what may best be described as a pearl silver finish. Please understand, the finish work is high-end, but it's intentionally an understated appearance.  Detailed specifications include the following...
    Hole count:
    32H
    Locknut dimensions:
    100 mm
    Axle type:
hollow type with factory matching quick release skewer
    Weight:
    236 grams
Shimano literature further indicates this front hub has a one-piece forged aluminum alloy body and a traditional cup-n-cone bearing design...so a very strong and durable offering that should hold up well under stressful conditions.. This same reference material also indicates the cup-n-cone bearing design is enhanced to include some sealing properties that should help reduce internal wear. Now I will be the first to admit these sealing properties are not on par with more current cartridge bearing designs, but I believe Shimano's claim still holds some merit.
It's probably also worth noting the extremely short production run for the Sante groupset.  The best I can tell the groupset was introduced in the late 80's, but appears to have been discontinued by 1990 (so a 1-2 year production run is all that we appear to have with this groupset).  This limited production run is consistent with what we see on the market today...and that is very little in the way of new-old-stock Sante components (at least relative to some of Shimano's other high-end road components from this same era).
As for condition, this is a new and unused front hub with no evidence of lacing on any of the spoke holes. We have a small lot of these hubs and while none of them are retail boxed, they do show fairly well overall...with only light shopwear (scuffs and scratches) in the polished silver finish.

Note to international customers regarding shipping...
We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.
Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
