This beautiful live edge slab has a nice light crotch figure and is a great size and shape for a custom kitchen island or bartop as well as a unique headboard,desk or dining and confrence table. Please take note of the checking throughout. Also note that this slab is unfinished and will require additional sanding and finishing.

About Our Slabs:
We use mostly urban logs that we buy from arborists that were removed because they were dying or damaged in storms.
Our band sawmill can cut up to 70” wide and 40’ long
Our chain sawmill can cut up to 108” wide
All of our live edge slabs are properly air dried for 1 to 5 years, then we finish drying them in one of our 2 custom vacuum kilns. These custom computer controlled vacuum kilns produce very high quality drying of our slabs.
After the slabs are dried, we sand them flat and clean up both faces.

Shipping:
Each slab order is shipped in a custom built wooden crate to ensure safe transit. These crates must be shipped to you by freight truck. You will need to provide us with your complete delivery address and whether this location is commercially or residentially zoned so we can accurately arrange your shipment.

The sapwood is a creamy white and the heartwood is a rich golden brown with the annual rings being distinctive.
Janka Hardness:
810 (soft)
Durability:
Rated as non-durable; susceptible to insect attack. Living trees are susceptible to Dutch elm disease.
Weather Resistance:
Rated as non-rot resistant and can decay.
Workability:
English Elm can be challenging to work because of interlocked grain, especially on quartersawn surfaces. It glues, stains, and finishes well. English Elm does well with steam bending. It holds nails and screws well.
Uses:
When properly dried, English Elm is a very stable wood making it ideal for furniture making, especially large Nakashima style tables.
