RARE - Vintage, original ink signature of FRANK SINATRA and others (circa 1940-1942) when Sinatra was with the Tommy Dorsey Band. This particular souvenir card was from Frank Dailey’s Meadowbrook which was located on the Newark-Pompton Turnpike in Cedar Grove, NJ.

In the 1930s and 1940s, all of the big bands used to play at this famous nightclub that hosted dinner and dancing. In January 1940, Frank Sinatra joined the Tommy Dorsey Band in Chicago after leaving the Harry James Band. After travelling east, the band (with its newest singer) played a 3-week stint at the Meadowbrook (February 20 – March 11, 1940). It was there that Tommy Dorsey gave Frank Sinatra top billing, bumping down star drummer, Buddy Rich. Sinatra would return to the Meadowbrook with Dorsey and the band several times in 1941. Sinatra would remain with the band until September 1942. And the rest is history!

Frank Sinatra was a willing autograph signer throughout his career (60+ years), however many forgeries and secretarial signatures exist in the market today. It is widely known that Sinatra utilized secretaries to deal with his mail correspondence, including autograph requests, as far back as 1939-1940. Many (some would argue MOST) of the Sinatra signatures you see for sale in the market today are classic examples of secretarial signatures from the 1970's - 1990's or outright forgeries. Do not take on the risk of buying a Sinatra signature that you do not have confidence in. Look for signatures that have credible background and provenance.
