    Description

Very scarce Dutch Marines Mannlicher M1895 bayonet.
This bayonet is similar to the infantry version except that the grip fastening device is a unique screw and plate arrangement for tropical condition and the crossguard has a hooked quillon. Made by Steyr arsenal
in Austria. Marked on one side of the blade, "OEWG.", and on the opposite side,
"Crown over T". The steel part of the grip also displays,
"Crown over T". The serial/issue number is stamped on the crossguard, "7283". T-back, 14 inch long blade. Complete with a correct leather scabbard with an integral leather frog.
There are letters "CW" on the front of the frog, right under the grip. Condition: overall very good. The bayonet metal parts retain almost all bluing, but there is a small corrosion at the tip of the blade (see photos). About 90% of blue finish is still on the blade, crossguard and grip. The scabbard and frog are in excellent condition, leather is soft and there are no cracks. Solid stitches. The wooden grips are in very good plus condition, with some wear, handling marks and light dings. (Janzen p.147/3)
