Cat Doll Vintage Folk Art Soft Hankie Cat Doll Made By Tattered Rabbit, 1992

This is a vintage one of a kind handmade folk art stuffed fabric cat doll, created in 1992, on a farm on the plains of Illinois by the mother/daughter owned cottage industry called Tattered Rabbit. Their folk art pieces have been displayed in several museums. See the attached card for their story of how Tattered Rabbit came to be. They dressed each unique doll using vintage hankies, ribbon, lace and buttons, often dying the fabrics with tea to “age” them. What may appear to be stains are intentional. This perky puss stands 7” tall. She is on a doll stand in the photos to show the length of her hankie dress. Her dress is a gorgeous vintage blue and cream floral with a lovely blue ribbon. She wears a lace veil, under which, at the back of her head, is a signature which faintly reads Toni ‘92. She wears lace underpants and has a sewn-on button with her name: Molly. This delightful kitty would make a wonderful gift for any folk art doll collector, and Mother’s Day is coming up! The price sticker on the back of the tag is what my mom paid for her in 1992.
