HANDSIGNED LP RECORD JACKET BY ARTIE SHAW (1910-2004) WHO WAS MARRIED 8 TIMES TO INCLUDING LANA TURNER & AVA GARDNER.
Artie Shaw was the rival of Benny Goodman in the Swing era. With a different style of playing, his sound on clarinet was more liquid than Goodman's sound. After playing in different orchestras in the late 1920s and '30s, he formed his own orchestra in 1936, and he added a string quartet to the Big Band. In 1938, he had a famous hit with the recording of the Cole Porter  song "Begin the Beguine." After months of success and popularity, he dissolved his band in 1939. The year after, he appeared with a new band.
Jazz clarinetist and bandleader. Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1990.
HE HAS SIGNED AN LP JACKET FOR "THE COMPLETE ARTIE SHAW VOL III 1939-1940".

THE RECORDS APPEARS TO BE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. AND WHILE I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT IT WILL NOT PLAY JUST FINE THIS ITEM IS BEING SOLD AS AN AUTOGRAPHED COLLECTIBLE AND NOT A RECORD COLLECTIBLE. I MAKE NO CLAIMS TO THE PLAYABILLITY OF THE LPS.

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN AUTHENTICATED AND I AM INCLUDING THE BASIC CERT CARD WITH THE NUMBER T48580 WHICH MATCHES THE STICKER PROVIDED BY JSA ON THE BACK OF JACKET (SEE SCANS).  AUTHENTICITY FROM JAMES SPENCE AUTHENTICATION (JSA) (SEE ALL SCANS). AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF AN ORIGINAL HAND SIGNED ITEM WITH AUTHENTICITY.

WE ATTENDED THE ACADEMY AWARDS, EMMY AWARDS AND MOVIE PREMIERES. ALSO EVENTS SUCH AS THE "THALIANS BALL", THE "SHARE BOOMTOWN PARTY", AS WELL AS MANY CELEBRITY GOLF & TENNIS TOURNAMENTS IN THE LOS ANGELES AND PALM SPRINGS AREAS. WE ALSO ATTENDED THE TAPINGS OF MANY T.V. SHOWS OF THE TIME SUCH AS
THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE, HULLABALOO, HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, THE RED SKELTON SHOW, THE ANDY WILLIAMS SHOW
& MORE WHERE MOST CELEBRITIES WERE AVAILABLE FOR AUTOGRAPHS BEFORE AND AFTER TAPINGS. IT WAS A TIME WHEN ACCESS TO THE STARS WAS EASY. BASICALLY THERE WAS NO SECURITY AT THE EMMY AWARDS AND VERY LITTLE AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS & MOVIE PREMIERES.
IN THE 1980'S WE OPENED A RECORD STORE WHICH GAVE ME ACCESS TO MANY RECORD SIGNING EVENTS AT MY DISTRIBUTORS' LOCATIONS AND SOME EVENTS SPONSORED BY DISTRIBUTORS. WE ATTENDED HUNDREDS OF CONCERTS AND WERE ABLE TO MAKE OUR WAY BACKSTAGE AT MANY OF THEM WITH RECORD & CD COVERS IN HAND TO BE SIGNED.
ABOUT THIS TIME WE ALSO BEGAN TO ATTEND MANY CELEBRITY SHOWS AND AMASSED A GREAT COLLECTION OF SIGNED PHOTOS FROM MANY CELEBRITIES OF A BY-GONE AREA, MANY WHO HAVE SINCE PASSED ON.
WE ALSO HAVE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF BUYING COLLECTIONS OF AUTOGRAPHS FROM INDIVIDUALS WHO EITHER WORKED IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS (SOME AS EARLY AS THE 1920'S) AND OTHERS WHO HAD A BUSINESS IN THE HOLLYWOOD AREA WHICH WAS FREQUENTED BY CELEBRITIES. SOME OF THESE FOLKS KEPT THEIR AUTOGRAPH BOOKS AT THE FRONT COUNTER AND WERE READY TO ASK FOR A SIGNATURE WHEN A CELEBRITY CAME INTO THEIR SHOP.
