.  The specification mandates that true MIL-C-5040H Type 3 cord have at least 7 core strands, ours exceeds the national standard for paracord.  Each core strand in 5col's paracord is 3-ply, including the marker strand.  This marker strand acts as an identifier for military parachute riggers.  Should one of the parachute lines fail, the rigger will know which factory it came from.
